Welcome to the work of Jason Venus...

Jason first held a camera in 1986 when he started work as a trainee commercial photographer. Whilst spending 5 years photographing circuit boards, components and helicopters, he developed a passion for photographing local wildlife.

In 1990 Jason went freelance and concentrated on wildlife, working for magazines. In 1994, he won the 'urban wildlife' category in the British Gas Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition.

Two years later, his innovative shot of a backlit badger running towards the camera won him the top award - BG Wildlife Photographer of the Year - in the same competition. Not surprisingly, the badger is his favourite animal.
